What I cannot understand is how SA bought Maiga, Diarra, Pogatetz, Chamakh and Jarvis as well as Paulista that 2012/13 season.
At least it set Sullivan off on setting up a proper recruitment team and this year seems to be heading the same sort of way last year did. Successfully...

No doubt he is being groomed in to the new Carlton Cole, i.e. he will be here for the rest of time and will occasionally remind everyone how much he loves West Ham until he becomes 'Our Modibo'. I'm not fucking surprised these chumps love us; we pay their wages when nobody else will go near them!
Only joking, Carlton Son. Love ya really.

Pog and Chamakh were loans brought in as cover for injuries in Jan. Paulista was a Sulivan loan signing also in Jan.

Glenn Rodent 9:42 Thu Jul 9 Re: Maiga He might have some talent to.play at league on orlr two level but he was completely.outnof his depth at Premier League level that it was pretty embarressing andnyou had to feel.for the fella.
He has no movement, no anticipation, no vision, doesnt understand tactics, pressing or tackling. That is why he is shit at Premier League level. If you never saw that when you watched him then i do worry.
Utter rubbish. You say he might manage at league 1 or 2, but if he can't cope with the things in your paragraph then there is no way he could play in any league down to local football.

I was trying to just give the guy a little bit of credit to say that he could play League One or Two level because he can to be fair chip in with the odd goal or two.
But his all round game is so incomplete that I honestly can't see how people can say he is worth keeping.

If an offer come in for him we should definitely take it. To say he is of a league 2 standard is laughable however.
Scored some goals for us. Remember his goals against Saints and West Brom being of good quality.
Scored goals in a struggling Metz side. Could offer us more upfront than good old Carlton Cole imo.

The bloke has been poorly managed and struggled to adapt to life in England.
The slate has been wiped clean, I don't think he's a world beater but coached and played correctly could be a good enough squad player.

He was playing in Ligue 2 for FC Metz last season. What level in English football would be comparable to Ligue 2 do you think? Well it isn't even Championship level. QPR in the championship didn't even want him and his Metz loan was nearly cut short because he was so woeful.

If he isn't starting up front against Colchester then there ain't much hope for him cos we have no-one else at present.

Have a mate in Ireland who has been to some of the sessions says he has looked okay. As someone else mentioned, only striker at the Irish training camp. By all accounts they are trying to move him on and bring in someone else though.

"only striker at the Irish training camp"
And that say's everything you need to know. If the club had any faith in the guy then they would have put him in the Europa League squad instead of Sakho and utilised him that way.
They don't fancy him against a shit team from Andorra which tells you everything.

Sakho was included in the early games because he didn't play the end of the season due to injury, so this is basically his recovery period and getting fit.

I was generally supportive of Sam but don't think Maiga got a fair shake under him, especially in the second season. He was forced to play a role he didn't know how to play and it looked like it affected his confidence. I reckon he deserves a clean slate under a new boss.

Not debating that they don't rate him and he's likely gonna leave but the reason he isn't in the Europa squad is more down to the fact he was playing for Mali in June thus he didn't have to report back until last Monday.

Re: Maiga

I would be very surprised if Maiga was actually an Allardyce signing just because he was brought in under his reign.
I expect it was a committee signing from the owners etc but BFS turned him into a pile of shit by doing what he does best with strikers and playing them out wide to accommodate Carroll or Cole.
We've had some half decent strikers over the last few years that haven't lived up to their potential simply because we buy them as a striker BFS doesn't play them as a striker.
Valencia was a victim to some degree last season.

Now that Diafra Sakho could be recieve a three match ban, and that Zarate has an injury, it seems that we might have to turn to Maiga.Problem is if he included in the Europa squard that would make him cup tied, thus less marketable of getting shot if any other European sides might be interested in him. Bilić got a lot of thinking to do in the next couple of days....
